Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay started his 66th birthday celebration today with a program together with his supporters in an open grounds stage.  Binay is accompanied by his city officials and family.  I think the main event of this thing is not his birthday but announcing that Binay will run for President for the 2010 National Elections.  Banners & streamers are displayed saying “Mahalin Natin Ang Pilipinas, Atin ‘To”  with a Philippine Flag on it.  I wasn’t able to catch up the exact phrase printed on the streamers but the main point is there.  They are pointing out that Binay is the answer to the problems of our dearest country, Philippines.

And with the introduction of Makati Representative Teddy “Boy” Locsin, Binay is said to be the Barack Obama of the Philippines who made history in the United States by being the first African-American President of the United States.  Obama has a little experience when it comes to politics but Binay is said to have lots of it which he barely boasts off.

With an interview, Binay said that he will surely face the call of his supporters by running for President in the 2010 Elections.  But the thing is the Oppostion not yet announced its official candidate for the 2010 Presidency.  But Binay said that he will surely run if President Joseph “Erap” Estrada will tell him to do so or be his standard bearer.

This is my question to you readers out there, “Is Binay the Pinoy Obama?”

It was an awesome night as Bayani Fernando, Joey Marquez and JC Buendia performed for the finals night of the Philippine Edition of Celebrity Duets Season 2 last night.  BF emerged as the champion over his two contenders.  BF topped the other two not only because of his good voice but also of course from the overwhelming text votes from his supporters.  Neither of his opponents will never top his text votes because of the fact that he has the whole MMDA team to be his main text votes supporters.  As I knew that BF was one of the contenders of the said contest, I knew from the start that he will emerge as the winner.  He was personally supported by his wife, Marikina Mayor Ma. Lourdes Fernando and Ricky Reyes, a family friend I think.  Every time BF performs, he never missed to get a loud roar from the audience.  He never failed to excite his fans and viewers.  One performance that I liked with BF is his duet with his friend Joey Lina which I think was last week or the week earlier before that.  They both performed well.

The Finals Night was divided into two rounds.

In the first round, the finalists sang with their favorite duet partners from their previous performances.  BF chose  Pilita Corrales, and they sang the Filipino folk song “Ay, Ay, Ay, O Pag-ibig.”  Joey Marquez did a rendition of Kenny Rankin’s “What Matters Most” with friend Keempee de Leon.  And lastly, JC Buendia took the stage once again with Allan K where they sang “Build Me Up Buttercup.”

In the second round, the finalists sang with new duet partners.  Joey Marquez was the first to perform with Pops Fernandez, and they sang “Friends.”  JC Buendia got sentimental while performing “Just The Way You Look Tonight” with Jonalyn Viray.  Finally, BF brought in veteran singer Basil Valdez and performed “Corner of the Sky.”

As the winner, BF bagged the one million cash prize which half of it will go to charity.

With what happened last night, a question was finally formed in my mind “Is this the start of his campaign for the presidency on 2010?”

Season 1 winner Tessa Prieto-Valdes was of the judges this season, along with composer Danny Tan and stage director Freddie Santos.
